Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco was born in Canada, and is now American. More than 20 albums have been made available by her. DiFranco's music is classified as folk and alternative rock but also has influences from jazz and hip-hop. A feminist icon widely recognized as Grammy award winner Ani DiFranco is the mother of the DIY movement, and was among the first musicians to launch her own label the year 1990. DiFranco was born on 23rd September 1970, in Buffalo New York. Her parents were Elizabeth (Ross), from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Dante Americo DiFranco. Her father was of Italian descent and her mother came from Montreal. Her song 32 Flavors was written by her and sung by Ani. This song appeared on her fifth studio album Not a Pretty Girl which was released in the year 1995. On the soundtrack of 1999's Canadian romantic film Better Than Chocolate is a variant of this track. DiFranco apologized in 2013 after it was reported that she would be hosting the three-day workshop on a Louisiana plantation for slaves.
